Do you have a passion for invention and self-challenge? Do you thrive on pushing the limits of what's considered feasible? As part of an extraordinary modem team, you'll craft sophisticated leading-edge embedded firmware that delivers more performance in our products than ever before. You'll work across subject areas to transform improved hardware elements into a single, integrated design. Join us, and you'll help innovate new wireless systems technologies that continually outperform the previous iterations! By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you'll push the industry boundaries of what wireless systems can do and improve the product experience for customers across the world.
As a Cellular 5G/4G Firmware Verification Engineer, you will be at the center of the embedded 5G/4G multimode cellular firmware effort within a silicon design group responsible for crafting and productizing state-of-the-art cellular SoCs. This position requires someone comfortable with all aspects of embedded firmware verification, who thrives in a dynamic multi-functional organization, is not afraid to debate ideas openly, and is flexible enough to pivot on constantly evolving requirements. Increasingly, this work intersects with AI/ML-driven optimisations — from intelligent test generation to on-device machine learning for signal processing — and we're looking for engineers excited to operate at that frontier.
• Design and develop validation frameworks and test cases for 4G/5G firmware, execute and debug test scenarios, identify issues, and gate correct firmware functionality prior to release
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, i.e. component validation, integration, protocol test, firmware, and systems engineering teams, to design firmware verification test cases, drive end-to-end physical layer performance evaluations, and validate new and existing feature functionalities
• Verify concurrency and cross-feature interactions, ensuring correct and overall firmware behavior as new features are integrated
• Leverage large language models (LLMs) and AI/ML models to accelerate test coverage analysis, root cause analysis, and documentation workflows
• Develop and maintain test automation pipelines for 4G/5G UEs, test simulators, and test gNodeBs, encompassing API and interface development to integrate with both internal and external verification solutions
• Assist in the development of pre-silicon emulation systems and virtual platforms for firmware design and hardware verification
