Optical Systems Student (Data Acquisition & Simulation)
AppleRamat Gan, Tel Aviv District, Israel
Apply Apple designs consumer electronics that have touched millions and changed the way people interact with electronic devices around the world.
The ML-Physics team in Israel is looking for an Optical Systems student to develop, simulate, and validate optical systems through a combination of computational modeling and hands-on experimentation. The role involves collecting real-world data from optical setups, building simulation tools, and supporting machine learning workflows that rely on both simulated and experimental data.
Operate optical setups for data acquisition, including alignment, calibration, and measurement
Collect, process, and curate experimental datasets from optical systems
Build simulations and compare simulation outputs with experimental results and refine models accordingly
Generate high-quality datasets (simulated and real) for downstream analysis and machine learning
Collaborate with ML research teams to support model development and validation
- Hands-on experience with optical experimental setups ands optical simulation tools
- Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills
- Good programming skills, proficient in one or more computer languages (preferable Python)
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, highly cross-functional and fast-paced environment
- Proficient verbal and written English language skills
- Experience in some of the following is an advantage:
- Camera, computer vision, image processing, electro-optics
- Imaging, measurement & test systems, or optical instrumentation
- BSc/MSc student in Electro-Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
