We are looking for a Leader of APJ Field Tech Operations to help drive the long-term growth of the APJ Tech business through a period of significant change. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, motivated self-starter who is passionate about using data, fluent enough in technology to operationally lead a technical field credibly, and has a track record of driving transformation, not just running operations.
In this role, the leader will work out what the APJ Tech organization must prioritize from an operations perspective to help the business scale, and then drive that change through the field. This is not a role to run the operating cadence well and keep the reporting clean; it is to lead the organization through its transition as the AI business scales and the most fundamental roles, from how we sell to how we deliver, are reshaped. The mandate is to carry the org through that change rather than defend the current model, and it holds even if the team gets leaner, because the game is productivity and leverage, not size.
Considered a close operational partner to APJ Tech leadership and a member of the APJ Tech leadership team, this leader will develop, implement, and manage the business processes, systems, insights, and strategies that optimize how the organization works to meet its goals along with geographically dispersed team reporting to them. They will own and drive the management of business cadences across cross-functional teams, and will have the capacity to absorb and lead change through their direct team as well as by earning trust and influencing others across the APJ and WW Tech business and worldwide stakeholders who do not report to the role.
The role drives improvements to the reporting tools, mechanisms, and business insights the team relies on, increasing the availability and granularity of actionable, decision-ready data and building a single source of truth leaders can trust. Crucially, it reaches for automation and AI as the primary lever to redesign how operations work gets done, so the organization produces materially more without adding people. It also manages the proposal, administration, and execution of the region’s targets, goals, and headcount plans, and continuously proposes improvements that increase the organization’s effectiveness in driving desired results.
The successful candidate must be able to roll up their sleeves and work directly with models and data, and thrive in ambiguity of various challenges encountered daily in a fast-moving Tech company. You will be passionate about your work, analytical, and a strong problem-solver, with the technical depth to earn the trust of a technical field and the judgment to know where technology creates the most leverage. You will have superb communication and relationship skills, hold a firm and well-reasoned line with senior leaders on what the data says even when it is unwelcome, and stay open to disconfirming input rather than anchoring on prior ways of working. You will drive toward simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, have a track record of building high-performing teams and thinking big, and be able to communicate complex analytical results, both written and verbally, in a clear and easy-to-understand way.
Key job responsibilities
• Drive org-wide transformation from an operations lens: Look across the APJ Tech org, decide what to prioritize to help it scale, and drive that change through the field - not just describe it. This is the heart of the role.
• Bring technical depth to lead a technical field: Operate with enough technical fluency to lead a Tech organization credibly, earn the trust of a technical field, and make sound calls on where technology creates the most leverage.
• Earn trust and influence across a matrixed org: Land change with Area GMs, Tech leaders across the Geo, and worldwide stakeholders who do not report to this role, and hold a firm line on what the data says even when it is unwelcome.
• Use the FTO platform to drive change at scale: Know the Field Tech Operations function intimately and use it as a platform to lead transformation, with a demonstrated pattern of thinking big rather than optimizing the status quo.
• Drive productivity through automation and AI: Redesign how operations work gets done so the org produces materially more without adding people, using AI and automation as the primary lever, and deliver results at a different scale.
• Build systems and a single source of truth: Design mechanisms, standards, and trusted business insights that scale on their own; build the machine rather than personally running each cycle.
• Run the operating cadence as the foundation: Keep firm command of the current state - business reviews, goals, and decision-ready reporting - as the stable base from which transformation is driven, since business as usual keeps running until the transitions land.
• Build and develop the team: Attract, grow, and retain a high-performing operations and insights team, and raise the bar on talent as the function evolves.
