Amazon Studios International Originals is seeking a Scripted/Unscripted Creative Executive to join our Mexico Originals team. In this role, you will identify exceptional material and talent, and guide top-level writers and directors through the creation of outlines, scripts, cuts, and other creative material across development and production.
Using your comprehensive knowledge of the Mexican and Latin American entertainment landscape—including premium television and film talent—you will build on existing industry relationships and cultivate new ones. You will champion bold, culturally resonant storytelling that speaks to Mexican audiences while having global appeal.
You will join a self-motivated, passionate, and collaborative team dedicated to creating world-class original content. This position is based in Mexico City.
Key job responsibilities
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend format proposals, scripts, pitches, and IP for development.
• Partner with writers, showrunners, and directors to develop stories and scripts for Amazon Studios' Mexico Originals slate (scripted and unscripted).
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with production companies, talent agencies, writers, directors, and other creatives in the Mexican market.
• Provide creative oversight and support through all phases: development, pre-production, production, post-production, and launch.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the Mexico Originals department and other Amazon Studios departments (marketing, PR, legal, etc.) as needed.
• Participate in internal status reports, business reviews, and Greenlight meetings pertaining to Scripted & Unscripted Originals.
• Maintain a keen understanding of cultural trends, social issues, audience preferences, and current events relevant to Mexican audiences, and translate these insights into compelling programming opportunities.
• Track competitive landscape and programming trends across streaming platforms, broadcast, and film in Mexico and Latin America.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of creative executive experience
- 5+ years of content creation or copy editing, including online publishing experience
- Experience working with other departments such as casting, production, research, PR, business and legal affairs
- Experience overseeing all creative aspects of development production and post production
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with both scripted and unscripted content development
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, advertising or business
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative software, primarily Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop/Indesign at an advanced level
- Experience working specifically in the Mexican or Latin American entertainment market
- Established network of relationships with writers, directors, showrunners, and production companies in Mexico
- Experience evaluating and developing content for streaming platforms
- Knowledge of current Mexican and Latin American cultural trends and audience viewing behaviors
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously across different stages of development and production
