Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Account Executive to drive growth and deepen customer relationships within the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Public Sector. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of strategic government accounts, developing account plans, and delivering revenue targets while helping customers achieve their cloud transformation goals.
The Senior Account Executive will work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment alongside Solutions Architects, Professional Services, and Partner teams to deliver innovative cloud solutions that improve public sector outcomes. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, build strong executive relationships, and act as the primary commercial point of contact for your accounts.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and execute account plans for assigned public sector customers, driving revenue growth and cloud adoption
- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders (Director/SES level) across government agencies
- Manage a robust sales pipeline from lead generation through qualification, proposal, negotiation, and close
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, Professional Services, and Partners to deliver customer outcomes
- Identify customer business challenges and map AWS solutions to deliver measurable value
- Navigate government procurement processes including panel arrangements, RFPs/RFTs, and standing offers
- Present business reviews and account updates to sales leadership on a regular cadence
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing, process improvement, and best practice development
- Represent AWS at industry events, customer meetings, and partner forums
- Stay informed on public sector trends including digital strategy, data sovereignty, cybersecurity, and AI/ML adoption
- Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets

Basic Qualifications
- Experience creating and implementing long-term transformational account strategies in a customer-facing role or equivalent
- Experience developing, negotiating and executing business agreements
- Experience in oral and written communication
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working with technology customers, such as software providers
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution
- Knowledge of AWS or cloud technologies
- AWS Associate level certification or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- Experience architecting/operating solutions built on AWS
- Knowledge of defence sector challenges, capability acquisition processes, and procurement frameworks (e.g., Commonwealth Procurement Rules, Defence Industry Security Program)
- Knowledge of key technology and market trends impacting defence, including sovereign AI, zero trust, and multi-domain operations
- Demonstrated ability to work with military and civilian defence stakeholders and understand mission requirements
