Amazon is hiring a Procurement Manager to be based in Tokyo, Japan.
As a member of the APAC Global Procurement Central Services (GPCS), you will be leading a team of procurement professionals (Buyers), supporting procurement and business teams across Asia Pacific in a diverse set of operations (for example catalogs, vendor onboarding, procurement requisitions compliance checks, consumables inventory planning, ordering, among others).
The role will be based in Tokyo, with up to 15% traveling.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead a team of buyers performing the activities related to the operations listed above.
- Ensure adherence to Amazon's global spend policy and driving compliance to Procurement policies and procedures.
- Build effective stakeholder relationships – develop relationships with primary internal customers (local Operations leadership), external suppliers, and other teams within the Japan and broader APAC market.
- Serve as the primary liaison between GPCS and Japanese-speaking stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and alignment across regional teams.
- Drive effective delivery of metrics by leading / supporting projects and initiatives; identifying root cause of issues and corrective actions.
- Assist with the development of new standards, procedures, and solutions for the procurement operations.
- Partner with other procurement leaders and teams on local or regional projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to achievement of Procurement's annual targets, catalogue penetration, contracts maintenance, vendor onboarding and maintenance objectives.
- Scope roles, recruit, and hire according to business needs.
- Mentor and develop employees for career enhancement and direction.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
- Experience in the following procurement domains: Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, and/or Shipping Supplies
- Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and analytical platforms, including but not limited to the ability to analyze data using pivots and V-Lookups
- Experience managing a team
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese at a business level or above (N1+)
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on leading regional Procurement / Logistics / Supply Chain projects at regional / global scale
- Experience leading process improvement projects involving smart technologies (a.i., machine learning, robotic process automation -RPA-, or related)
- CIPS, APICS or equivalent certification in Procurement / Supply Chain
- Master degree in Business Administration, International Commerce, Supply Chain & Logistics, or related field.
