We are building the future of responsible AI at Amazon. We deliver privacy-first, accessible, and trustworthy AI experiences that millions of customers use daily. Our mission is to ensure that as we push the boundaries of generative AI innovation, we maintain the highest bar for customer trust, privacy, inclusion, and accessibility.
Key job responsibilities
Lead multiple engineering teams building foundational systems and consumer-facing features that enable trustworthy AI experiences at scale, owning architectural decisions across privacy-preserving AI, responsible AI frameworks, and accessibility.
Define and drive the technical strategy for privacy-preserving architectures including federated learning, differential privacy, and on-device processing that protect customer data while delivering high-quality experiences.
Build and scale teams developing AI evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails for large language models, and observability systems that monitor model quality, hallucination rates, and trust metrics in production.
Partner with Product, Design, Legal, Policy, and Research teams to align on priorities, resolve trade-offs between innovation speed and trust requirements, and drive adoption of responsible AI standards across business lines.
Grow engineering leaders and create an inclusive team environment where engineers develop expertise in AI safety, privacy technologies, and responsible system design while delivering reliably against a multi-year roadmap.
A day in the life
You start your morning reviewing operational metrics and system health dashboards before joining a design review with your engineers. Mid-morning, you collaborate with partner teams on roadmap alignment and trade-off discussions. After lunch, you hold a one-on-one with a direct report to discuss their career development plan. Later, you dive into a technical document your team is authoring, providing feedback that sharpens the proposal. You close the day preparing a narrative for an upcoming planning review.
About the team
Our team is responsible for the systems that make Amazon's AI experiences trustworthy, private, and accessible. We build privacy-preserving data pipelines, AI safety guardrails, transparency controls, and evaluation frameworks used across multiple product lines. We work at the intersection of generative AI innovation and customer protection, partnering closely with research, policy, and product teams.
We are focused on scaling responsible AI infrastructure as agentic and multimodal capabilities grow. If you are excited about leading engineers who solve novel problems in AI safety and privacy while shaping industry standards, we would love to hear from you.
