From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you'll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. We want individuals who are curious, eager to learn, and ready to grow their technical depth in spacecraft power systems.
Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats, and work in a highly collaborative environment. We will need to tackle problems that span a variety of domains.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Key job responsibilities
This is an entry-to-mid level electrical systems engineering position where you will support simulation, analysis, requirements development, and verification for the Leo satellite power system. In this role, you will track power consumption of various satellite avionics units, build and run electrical models of power system components, process on-orbit telemetry data to validate system performance, and support trade studies working with technical leaders. You will develop scripts and tools to automate data processing, generate power budget reports, and assist in maintaining the simulation infrastructure used across the power systems team.
You will work with technical leaders and cross-functional partners to understand system-level requirements, execute analysis tasks, and present results in design reviews. You will gain hands-on exposure to the full satellite power system lifecycle—from component-level modeling through on-orbit performance monitoring.

- 1+ years of engineering experience (including internships or academic research) in electrical power systems, power electronics, or energy systems
- Proficiency in Matlab or Python for data analysis and scripting
- Coursework or project experience in circuit analysis, power electronics, or control systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to solar, battery, or power conversion system design (academic or professional)
- Experience working with time-series data or telemetry datasets
- Familiarity with simulation tools (Simulink, SPICE, or equivalent)
- Basic understanding of orbital mechanics or spacecraft systems
- Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains quickly and work independently on well-scoped tasks
