Senior VMware Solutions Architect, Specialist Team - Australia & New Zealand

Amazon Web Services is looking for a Solutions Architect to help customers accelerate the migration of their VMware workloads to AWS. This is an excellent opportunity to help customers understand best practices for migrating their existing workloads to AWS, and advise them on building resilient cloud architectures and operating models. This role also provides opportunities to influence the future direction of AWS in terms of our support for VMware workloads.

The Australia & New Zealand (A/NZ) Specialist team at AWS is looking for a VMware Specialist Solutions Architect to work with our customers across A/NZ. Key job responsibilities
As a Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, you are at the leading edge of technology in your area of expertise and called upon by others in our Sales, Solutions Architecture or technical support teams to provide expert guidance to our customers. AWS Specialist Solutions Architects are typically called upon to work with our largest customers on their most technically challenging problems and you will need to be comfortable independently working with customer stakeholders across multiple areas of business and technology within organisationally complex structures.

In terms of direct customer engagement, you will own the technical engagement as it relates to their migration of VMware workloads to AWS and are responsible for ensuring that any guidance you provide is current, architecturally sound, secure, reliable, sustainable, and cost-efficient.
AWS Solutions Architects are also responsible for taking learnings from individual customer successes and scaling that knowledge more broadly through the publication of white-papers & reference architectures, or by building and presenting workshops or breakout sessions at public events such as AWS re:Invent.

The Specialist SA team is responsible for technology/thought leadership working across the entire lifecycle of engagement with our customers in A/NZ. Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Knowledge of cloud architecture
- Knowledge of operating systems, hardware, storage, network, security, database administration and cloud infrastructure
- Strong understanding of resilience features such as vSphere HA, vMotion, and DRS
- Knowledge of VMware vRealize and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) products and techniques
- 6+ years experience with VMware technologies including vSphere, vSAN and NSX

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of AWS services, market segments, customer base and industry verticals
- Experience working with or having knowledge of cloud computing and existing cloud technologies
- Experience leading large enterprise transformations with AWS/cloud services
- Knowledge of Microsoft licensing and common licensing deployments along with infrastructure management platforms such as WSUS, SCCM,SCOM
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and application modernisation techniques
