As a Software Development Engineer-2 on Amazon’s Partner Growth Experience team, you will assume advanced ownership of designing, developing, and evolving mission-critical systems that empower Amazon’s Selling Partners at scale. This role builds upon foundational engineering excellence to drive strategic technical leadership, ensuring solutions align with Amazon’s long-term vision for partner enablement and marketplace growth.
Key job responsibilities
- Technical Ownership & Architecture: Take end-to-end ownership of complex features and subsystems, making architectural decisions that balance performance, scalability, and maintainability across large-scale services. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with senior technical leaders to define system roadmaps and prioritize technical debt reduction.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner deeply with product managers, UX designers, and senior stakeholders to translate ambitious business goals into innovative technical strategies. Lead cross-functional design workshops, ensuring technical feasibility while advocating for customer-obsessed solutions that drive measurable partner outcomes.
- Advanced Development Practices: Build and evolve high-availability, secure services using modern engineering practices, including automated testing at multiple levels, robust CI/CD pipelines, and comprehensive observability. Drive adoption of best practices across the team through code reviews, tech talks, and hands-on pairing.
- Operational Excellence: Own system reliability and performance, proactively identifying and resolving production issues through deep-dive analysis and root-cause investigations. Implement automated monitoring and alerting systems that reduce MTTR and improve partner experience uptime.
- Feature Delivery & Innovation: Deliver high-impact features that accelerate partner success—ranging from advanced analytics dashboards to next-generation onboarding workflows—while balancing rapid iteration with sustainable engineering principles. Champion innovation by exploring and evaluating new technologies that could transform partner capabilities.
- Leadership & Growth: Mentor SDE-1 engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence. Act as a technical escalations point for complex issues, while also driving personal growth through strategic skill development and leadership opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
