Are you a customer-obsessed builder with a passion for helping customers achieve their full potential? Do you have the business savvy, deep data background, and technical sales skills necessary to help position AWS as the cloud provider of choice for customers across Asia Pacific, Japan and China? Do you love building new strategic and data-driven businesses, and helping customers turn their data into the foundation that powers AI in production? Join the Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) Data & AI team as a Sr. Go-To-Market (GTM) Specialist for Data.
This role owns the AWS data go-to-market across APJC with a primary focus on helping customers run agentic and AI workloads in production, working hand-in-hand with the AI team to turn AI pilots into production reality. Data is the context layer that turns generic AI into personalised, differentiated outcomes; every AI conversation is a data conversation, and this role sits at the centre of it. To run these workloads in production, customers need the right context layer with the right level of governance, which means getting the metadata right. It is truly about getting the right data to the right people and agents at the right time. That starts with strong foundations, helping customers build and modernise the underlying data estate (the data stores, pipelines, and data engineering) that the context layer is built on and doing it in a way that makes it simple for customers, removing complexity rather than adding it. You will span AWS's storage, analytics, and database portfolio, partnering with the AI team, account teams, and partners on some of APJC's largest customers and most strategic deals. You will also be the voice of APJC back to the service teams, carrying the needs of APJC customers to our data service teams to help reshape our service and roadmap strategy.
The Worldwide Specialist Organization (WWSO) is part of AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) and acts as the force multiplier for AWS. We are the deep domain experts, in this case, in data — who are brought in to support customers and our sales teams when they need to unblock or accelerate a customer. We work backwards from our customers' most complex and business-critical problems to build and execute go-to-market plans that turn AWS ideas into multi-billion-dollar businesses. WWSO teams include business development, specialist, and technical solutions architecture. As part of WWSO, you'll provide expertise across the entire lifecycle of an AWS customer initiative, from developing ideas for new services to accelerating the adoption of established businesses. We pride ourselves on thinking big, delivering exceptional results for our customers, and working across AWS as #OneTeam.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the GTM strategy and execution for AWS Data (storage, analytics, database) across APJC, across all segments.
- Get customers ready to run agentic and AI workloads in production — partner with the AI team to build the context layer, governance, and metadata that gets the right data to the right people and agents at the right time.
- Help customers build and modernise the foundational data estate — data stores, pipelines, and data engineering beneath the context layer — making it easy by removing complexity.
- Serve as the APJC point of contact for all data motions — the connective tissue between the AI team, Specialists, Specialist SAs, Partners, and the area teams carrying data quota.
- Lead engagement on APJC's largest and most strategic deals with the AI team, account, commercial/deal, and partner teams, and design Scale Sales Motions using Field teams, partner channels, and funding levers to unblock deals.
- Be the voice of APJC to the data service teams — feed customer needs, adoption signals, and competitive gaps back to product leadership to reshape roadmap strategy.
- Engage at CxO/VP level and with developers and architects to build pipeline, secure lighthouse customers, drive revenue, and host executive briefings and workshops.
A day in the life
You are the person the field, partners, and customers come to for anything data in APJC. One day you're with the AI team in a CxO briefing making the case for the governed data foundation a customer needs to move an agentic workload into production; the next you're helping an account team stand up the right metadata and governance so agents can access the right data safely, unblocking a stalled deal with the right partner funding lever, or feeding APJC customer signal back to the service teams to shape the roadmap. You operate across the APJC areas and every segment, building the strategy and executing it, measuring success by the collective growth of the APJC data business.
About the team
The WWSO Data & AI team helps customers adopt our newest and most advantageous technologies. We are technology specialists. This role sits on the APJC Data GTM team, working as an integrated unit with the AI team, account teams, Specialist SAs, and partner teams to drive data adoption across APJC. We believe in a collaborative working model where BD, Sales Specialists, and Specialist SAs operate in concert, each bringing unique strengths to deliver customer outcomes. We value individuals who are not only strong strategists but also effective communicators who can bridge the gap between local market needs and global organizational priorities. If you thrive where you build the strategy AND execute it, where you influence across organizational boundaries, and where you measure success by the collective growth of the team, this is the role for you.
