It’s Day 1 for Amazon’s next billion dollar business and we are looking for an entrepreneurial minded Finance Manager to work in a start-up environment who is passionate about technology, who thinks/acts globally, and has the ability to create and implement solutions, processes and controls with a focus on the public sector.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, with an ability to build and articulate financial results and analytical insights to senior business and finance leaders. You will be familiar with managing and preparing financial analysis, critical to tracking the performance of the Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) contracts and overall business performance. This role requires a self-starter with superb business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a track record of delivering results to the business.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end analysis, management, and reporting of the business's Opex and Capex budgets, including monthly variance analysis, forecasting, and executive-level reporting across planning cycles; partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and program management leaders to drive budget accountability, identify cost optimization opportunities, and deliver actionable insights that inform resource allocation decisions and long-term investment strategy.
- Develop financial models for new business concepts and initiatives, and resulting financial impact to help drive data driven decision making including long range financial plans and business case analysis
- Solve complex business challenges through accurate and timely financial analysis, translating data into clear narratives and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Ability to create financial dashboards and streamline data; Identify root causes of data issues, escalates discrepancies, fixes data where possible or partners to deliver a solution
- Create, implement and monitor internal controls in conjunction with corporate policies to ensure reporting integrity, the safeguarding of company assets and the identification and management of financial risks
- Collaborate across organizations to identify opportunities, navigate ambiguity, and influence data-driven decisions while maintaining high standards for financial data integrity.
- Create and implement financial and operating performance metrics, identifying key call outs and drivers to senior management.

The Leo Public Sector Finance team plays a critical role in shaping investment strategies for one of Amazon's largest business areas. Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results
- Experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions
- Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
- 5+ years of leading cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
- 5+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel
- Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
- Experience supporting month-end closing processes and contributing to financial reporting under established procedures
- Experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
- Understanding of Government Contracting, Cost Accounting Standards and Federal Acquisition Regulations

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
