We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the team responsible for building and owning the RTI infrastructure and automation framework. This role sits at the intersection of people leadership, automation, data analytics, and MAC domain expertise, OS domain expertise, with the goal of democratizing OS features on embedded system.
As the SDM for this team, you will hire, develop, and lead a team of SDEs building the RTI system and OS bring up for a custom ASIC in LEO system.

Key job responsibilities
People & Team Leadership
Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of SDEs focused on embedded and automation
Set technical direction and priorities, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term architectural investments
Foster a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
Drive career development for team members, providing regular coaching and feedback
Collaborate cross-functionally with MAC domain experts, release teams, and system teams to align on roadmaps and dependencies
Own the end-to-end delivery of RTI system software, including OS drivers, Inter-Process Communication (IPC) frameworks, and telemetry infrastructure
Drive OS bring-up activities for the custom ASIC, ensuring stable and performant firmware foundations
Maintain and evolve OS drivers to support hardware capabilities and system requirements
Oversee the design and maintenance of telemetry pipelines and operational dashboards for system health monitoring
Make architecture decisions that balance performance, reliability, and maintainability for space-grade embedded systems
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in networking, large-scale distributed systems or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
- Experience working in a network planning, network construction/implementation, or commercial implementation role at an ISP, telecoms operator, or Hyperscaler
- Master's degree in Electrical/Communications Engineering, or 5+ years of wireless communications systems and implementation experience
- Experience in ETL management/data pipeline
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline implementation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
