Amazon's diverse business requires Indirect Tax filings in a number of jurisdictions globally. Amazon is seeking an enthusiastic Indirect Tax Compliance Tax Intern to work in its International Indirect Tax Compliance team based in Beijing of China. The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, and dynamic environment.
This position will be responsible for the preparation of various indirect tax returns and related filings. Work may also include some mainstream indirect tax compliance activities, supporting internal and external audits, and liaising with colleagues within finance teams as well as the wider business teams – you will need a basic understanding of financial systems, and accounting/tax technical knowledge for this work. You may also be involved in projects that have indirect tax compliance impact. You will be expected to take ownership of your activities, identify process improvement opportunities for existing process and controls, and drive positive change across the organization.
Key job responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze and submit of indirect tax returns, withholding tax and other tax returns;
- Prepare month-end indirect tax account reconciliations;
- Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis; and
- Participate in cross-functional projects with a priority on automation.
Basic Qualifications
- Able to work three/four days per week throughout the course of an one-year internship;
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Accounting, Taxation or Finance related fields;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level; and
- Good English proficiency.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.
