Amazon Ads Publisher Technology is an exciting program that is pioneering new experiences for Ad Publishers - both Amazon first party (e.g. Prime Video, FireTV, Twitch, etc), and third party - as they onboard new sponsored experiences for their customers. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to lead the engineering team and own the infrastructure and technical roadmap for Publisher Ad Server team. Our scope has grown substantially and we are looking for a thoughtful engineering leader to grow the team, build adaptive customer experiences and deliver a scalable system that will delight customers worldwide.

The software development manager, along with the product manager will be the single threaded owners responsible for driving the vision, capabilities and success of the Supply Side product set. You Will:
- Own technical vision and direction: You identify and mitigate risks, construct project schedules, and prepare status reports; you embrace performance metrics and measurement techniques because they help you assess how well system-related services are running. Oversee the planning and execution of 1-year and 3-year product roadmaps.

Key job responsibilities
- Understand the fundamentals (and tradeoffs) of Amazon’s existing advertising stacks and potential 3rd party services.
- Drive technical solutions/architecture for a Publisher Ad Server that can scale to millions of customers globally.
- Work closely with other PubTech technical teams.
- Build relationships and earn trust with partner teams to ensure they are aligned with PubTech technical goals.
- Oversee the planning and execution of 1-year and 3-year product roadmaps.
- Own and present to senior leadership key roadmap decisions, tradeoffs, and timelines.
- Develop a culture of rapid experimentation, measurement, and iteration.
A day in the life
You will be leading a team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs) on building efficient ways to serve ads. You will understand industry standards such as IAB to guide your team to create industry solutions. Your team will be involved in offline and real-time advertising bid-flow to ensure publisher's deals with advertisers are met. You will work closely with other teams within SupplyTech on design and implementation of solutions. You will supervise the creation of design documents and the presentation of those to teams, and will be expected to provide feedback on design artifacts submitted by both your SDEs and other teams. You will lead daily standups with the engineering team. You will work with product managers to understand our publisher’s requirements, and will then work with various stakeholders in aligning on a final vision of how our publishers will use the feature you are developing.
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 4+ years of engineering team management experience
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
