Amazon Now is India's fastest-growing Quick Commerce offering, delivering everyday essentials to customers in minutes. We are on a mission to expand to 300+ cities and become the most loved quick commerce destination for millions of customers. To achieve this, we are building world-class technology that powers store launches at scale, curates hyper-local selection, and drives seamless under-the-roof operations across our partner network.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team that owns the technology powering store operations and grocery partner experiences. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where you will build systems that directly fuel Amazon's rapid Quick Commerce expansion — a flagship S-Team goal.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technology stack for store launches, enabling rapid onboarding of new partner stores across cities at unprecedented speed and scale
- Build and evolve catalog and selection management systems — curating city-specific assortments, managing per-store catalogs, and simplifying the seller experience for listing new items
- Drive Under-the-Roof (UTR) technology — powering inventory management, picking, staging, and store operations workflows
- Lead architecture decisions for systems that must scale reliably across hundreds of stores while maintaining sub-minute operational latencies
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a team of SDEs fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and operational excellence
- Partner closely with product, operations, and business teams to translate ambiguous business problems into crisp technical solutions
- Establish engineering best practices, drive operational excellence (CI/CD, monitoring, on-call), and maintain a high quality bar
A day in the life
You start your day reviewing key operational metrics and ensuring systems are healthy across all live stores. You join a standup with your team to unblock engineers, review design documents, and prioritize the sprint backlog. Mid-morning, you collaborate with product and operations partners to define requirements for the next wave of store launches. After lunch, you dive into a system design review for a new catalog ingestion pipeline, providing technical guidance and challenging assumptions. Later, you conduct a 1:1 with a team member to discuss career growth and align on stretch goals. You wrap up by reviewing a deployment plan for a feature that will go live across multiple cities this week — ensuring rollback strategies and monitoring are in place.
