Do you love entertainment, media, and technology? Are you looking for a serious challenge in an innovation-driven, talent-focused company? Come make history as a member of Amazon’s world-class legal department.
This position, based in Tokyo, will support Amazon's entertainment businesses in Japan, including Prime Video and Amazon Music. Prime Video is a premium entertainment service offering a wide selection of TV shows, movies, Prime Originals, and live sports, all in one place. As part of Amazon Entertainment, it brings together creative content, technology, and commerce to deliver engaging experiences and support a global ecosystem of storytelling and innovation. Amazon Music is Amazon's immersive audio entertainment service that deepens connections between fans, artists, and creators. From personalized music playlists to exclusive podcasts, concert livestreams to artist merch, Amazon Music is innovating at some of the most exciting intersections of music and culture.
You will be an integral part of these businesses and work closely with US, UK and other international legal and business teams worldwide. You'll partner with business and legal colleagues to build strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways and develop processes that address risk while allowing the business flexibility to move quickly.
We seek a person who is inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, and demonstrates sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Most importantly, they are client-service oriented and able to see the bigger picture while paying close attention to detail on tight deadlines. This person can prioritize appropriately, switch gears without sacrificing quality, maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information, and work effectively with people at all levels.
At Amazon, you'll work alongside the latest AI and GenAI tools that are increasingly woven into how teams operate: from AI-powered capabilities that accelerate decision-making, to Generative AI that helps you focus on work that truly matters. You'll have opportunities and resources to develop AI fluency at your own pace, with continuous learning built into the culture.
A day in the life
You will serve as legal counsel for teams within both the Prime Video and Music businesses in Japan. You will be a legal and thought partner for the business on day-to-day matters as well as long-term strategic imperatives. You'll advise on a range of issues, including intellectual property, digital media, and regulatory compliance; structure, draft, and negotiate licensing, marketing, and other commercial agreements; and provide legal counsel on new product imperatives. Our lawyers solve a constant flow of novel challenges in growing and exciting entertainment businesses.
This role is designed for a lawyer who wants to deepen their expertise across multiple entertainment verticals and develop the judgment to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders across geographies. You'll build skills that are hard to develop elsewhere: navigating cross-border complexity; advising on first-of-their-kind products; and learning to operate with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment. The breadth of this role — spanning two distinct entertainment businesses — accelerates your development as a commercial entertainment lawyer.
