Amazon seeks a talented and motivated Senior Finance Manager to play a critical role on the Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (Corp FP&A) team. This is a highly visible role responsible for driving the reporting and insights of Amazon's consolidated financial results, including the Profit and Loss (PnL), Free Cash Flow (FCF), and headcount metrics. The successful candidate will lead a team in publishing scalable financial reports, key performance indicators, and insights to executive leaders—including the CFO, CEO, S-Team, and Board of Directors—to inform decision making across planning cycles. This role also encompasses oversight of certain external reporting deliverables, including the Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), and is responsible for driving process improvements, streamlining, and automation of financial reporting workflows. The ideal candidate requires significant organizational skills, prioritization, high attention to detail, exercise of high judgment in sometimes ambiguous situations, and coordination among individuals throughout the organization to effectively deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead Total Company PnL, FCF, and headcount reporting for all Plan, Forecast, and Actual reporting cycles
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports and insights to the CFO
- Prepare financial summaries and insights for executive leadership, including the CEO, S-Team, and Board of Directors, for planning cycles
- Oversee external reporting deliverables, including the MD&A section of SEC filings
- Drive process improvement initiatives focused on streamlining and automating financial reporting
- Lead and develop a team of finance professionals
- Ad hoc reporting and insights as needed and requested from executive leaders
A day in the life
The rhythm of this role shifts throughout the month. During the first two weeks, the focus is on CFO reporting—pulling actuals from Cognos, building and refining reports in Excel, and ensuring the monthly financial package is accurate, insightful, and delivered on time. Days are a mix of heads-down work building and reviewing reports and meetings with cross-functional partners including accounting, investor relations, and business unit FP&A teams. Given the seniority of the audience, this leader reviews team output with a high degree of detail, conducting regular 1:1s and working closely with their team to ensure every deliverable meets the bar.
During the back half of the month, the focus shifts to process improvement and automation. This leader owns the automation roadmap for the team's reporting workflows and regularly meets with tech teams to refine requirements, review progress, and test builds. The goal is to continuously reduce manual effort and increase the scalability and reliability of the team's outputs.
During planning cycles, the intensity increases significantly. The role becomes heavily focused on executive deliverables—preparing PnL, FCF, and headcount reports for the CEO, S-Team, and Board of Directors. This requires close partnership with business unit FP&A teams to ensure the consolidated reports accurately reflect the basis for their narratives. Meetings increase in frequency, and the ability to synthesize inputs from across the organization into a clear, cohesive story for leadership is critical.
Throughout it all, this leader balances stakeholder management, team development, and the pursuit of operational excellence in how the team delivers its work.
About the team
The Reporting team within Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis is the connective tissue between Amazon's financial results and the leaders who make decisions based on them. Our mission is to deliver clear, timely, and reliable financial reporting and insights that empower senior leadership to understand performance and plan for the future.
We are a team of individual contributors who come together with purpose—collaborating closely on key deliverables and partnering to build the next generation of automated reporting. While each team member owns distinct workstreams, the culture that binds us is intentional: we are firm but kind to one another, we work hard, and we hold ourselves accountable to Amazon's Leadership Principles in how we operate and how we treat each other.
Our customers are Amazon's most senior leaders. We help them cut through complexity to understand financial performance, and we reduce the time and effort required to produce the reliable reports they depend on. Beyond our immediate team, we partner broadly—working with governance and planning teams on upstream inputs, with investor relations on external reporting, and with technology teams on automation.
What makes this team unique is twofold. First, the visibility: the work product goes directly to the highest levels of the company, meaning the quality bar is high and the impact is immediate. Second, the transformation: we are in the early stages of an automation journey that will leverage AI to fundamentally change how financial reporting is done at Amazon. The person in this role will help shape that future.
