Global Logistics at Amazon is growing and you should join us! We are looking for a driven and analytical Senior Financial Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to support Imports — the end-to-end inbound freight that moves Amazon's import volume from China to European fulfilment centres by both ocean and air.
EU Imports spans the full freight journey — origin handling in China, port-to-port, and destination delivery — across an end-to-end annual cost base of approximately $380M. The role turns carrier cost, invoice, rate-card and volume data into the rates and cost models that drive the monthly close and forward guidance, and is central to understanding and improving the economics of the business. The current emphasis is on ocean and destination economics, alongside origin cost work in China.
The role will require learning quickly to understand the big picture of how Global Logistics fits into Amazon's overall supply chain, gaining proficiency in our data to capture the right details, and communicating clearly to effectively partner with business leaders and influence decisions. It requires high judgement and the ability to drive both strategic and tactical goals.
This role partners closely with a broad range of finance and business leaders — Operations executional teams, Procurement, Controllership, long-term planning teams, and FP&A. A typical day provides the opportunity to own high-impact projects that drive cost out of the business, build accurate and insightful reporting, and develop influential frameworks that drive key decision-making for an evolving business. You'll track performance metrics, analyse data and build financial models to identify where we can drive better efficiency and productivity, and show how different scenarios impact our business financially — vital for stakeholders making decisions.
This role will support the EU Financial Automation launch between 2026 and 2027, performing tech system reconciliation and financial validation across upstream data sources (XBTMS, Virtual Manifest), the Griffin manifest platform, and downstream Finance reporting (TFS / USL). The Sr. Financial Analyst will partner with the Product team on new GL program and new carrier onboarding to financial automation, ensuring finance requirements are built into the launch bar from Day 1. The role will be the Finance owner for EU-region FA launch readiness — defining the financial reporting bar, leading exception triage on data accuracy / completeness / timeliness, and driving cross-functional decisions with GLS Finance, Controllership, IVT, Hydra, and Product partners. As the program scales, the role will own the EU manifest data pipeline and the metrics mechanism that gives Finance visibility into automation health at the transactional level — enabling Finance to move from manual processing to systematic controllership.
Key job responsibilities
• Own the monthly executive close (MEC) for EU Imports freight — actuals, accruals, variance versus guidance, and clear commentary for leadership.
• Build and maintain the freight cost & rate engine — charge-code-level rates (cost per container, cost per chargeable kg) used to manifest monthly cost and feed guidance.
• Drive the planning and guidance cycles (OP1, OP2, Q2G, Q3G, 3YF) — cost models, bridge walks (actual vs plan vs prior guidance), and scenario analysis.
• Analyse and improve ocean and destination cost economics, while supporting origin (China) and port-to-port cost work across the end-to-end journey.
• Reconcile actual carrier cost and invoices against rate cards; partner with Procurement on rate guidance and validation.
• Lead cost-out initiatives — sizing, scoring, and tracking savings.
• Use advanced MS Excel and SQL to work with large data sets; deliver plans, forecasts, budgets and consolidations; improve, scale, and automate finance tools across teams.
• Build effective business partnerships across Operations, Controllership, Procurement and FP&A; manage competing priorities and communicate complex finance issues clearly to varied audiences.
• Proactively identify and resolve defects; seek and leverage diverse perspectives; contribute to a positive, collaborative team.
• Financial cost manifest pipeline development experience — designed or operated a multi-system cost data pipeline and built a metrics tracking mechanism for financial automation programs; established data visibility across various source systems for cost-element traceability and performed deep analysis at the transactional level to surface drivers of variance.
