We are seeking a Principal HR Business Partner (HRBP) to lead the HR strategy for the AWS Support and Just Walk Out (JWO) business in India as part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions (AAIS) organization. AAIS is building a new kind of business for Amazon: delightful AI solutions that improve human capabilities and business outcomes so that every business innovates with AI teammates. The Support and JWO organization is a complex, multi-pillar business spanning Frontline Support, Field Delivery, Engineering, Operations; a global and diverse technical workforce.
The Principal HRBP role exists to power the trajectory of the business by ensuring Support and JWO has the right talent mix, senior leadership, and capabilities, to innovate and deliver exceptional customer experiences. In this role, you will partner with business leaders along with their respective leadership teams to develop and execute the Organizational and HR strategies that foster growth, drive results and increase organizational effectiveness. You will define and execute the HR strategy for a business undergoing rapid AI transformation, evolving talent expectations, and increasing organizational complexity. You must be able to understand business priorities and translate them into a people agenda that supports the business to create the conditions for everyday teams to do remarkable things. Working with partners in Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation, Builder Relations, and Workforce Planning, you will translate business challenges into people solutions that deliver measurable impact.
The ideal candidate must be able to interface effectively with leaders, peers and employees at all levels of the organization. You will need strategic thinking, business acumen, excellent communication and influencing skills, strong problem solving skills, the ability to think and plan for the long term.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
• Function as a strategic consultant and trusted advisor to the leadership team; engage in strategic planning meetings to translate business needs into HR plans that accelerate product delivery and customer wins.
• Leverage knowledge of business and global landscape and trends, and external landscape and factors (social, cultural, political, legal environment, etc.), that directly affect the business to tailor people-focused solutions and drive business outcomes.
Organizational Effectiveness & Change Agent
• Design, recommend, and implement effective organization structures to ensure the structure aligns with its business strategy and strengthens culture.
• Evaluate organizational changes and create mechanisms for ongoing inspection and adjustment to evaluate if the changes have the intended business impact.
• Partner with business leaders to design and implement strategic workforce plans for an AI-enabled organization
• Drive organizations in adapting effectively to changing environments by continuously learning and developing new skills to support personal, team, and organizational growth.
• Use employee sentiment and listening mechanisms to identify trends, risks, and hotspots to inform change plans, de-risk the business, and maximize customer experience.
• Support experimentation in people systems that push the limits of what's possible, using data to evaluate effectiveness
Leadership Development & Talent Planning
• Coach senior leaders to maximize leadership effectiveness
• Serve as a trusted advisor to see around corners, recommend solutions to business and people risks, and bring objective ideas and org design options.
• Develop a strategy to build the required senior leader skills and establish a diverse pipeline through hiring, build vs. buy, internal development and succession planning, and talent movement.
• Assess both long term and immediate senior leader talent needs and skills in order to achieve long-term business goals.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience working in a matrixed organization
- Experience leading global teams
- Experience partnering with senior leaders to deliver results
- Experience in organizational design
- Knowledge of local labor law
- 10+ years of experience in an HR business partner role or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or above in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business/Management, Psychology, or a related field
- Experience partnering with multiple business leaders in a complex and fast-paced business setting which is in high growth mode
- Experience coaching senior leaders and managers with strong talent assessment skills
- Broad HR experience with specific depth in organizational design, talent management, succession planning, and performance management
- Depth of pragmatic experience with compensation planning, negotiation, and implementation for highly competitive technical talent markets
- Experience implementing data-driven workforce solutions and HR metrics
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and building new approaches where playbooks don't yet exist, particularly around AI-native people systems and practices
