Senior Field and Design Engineer, AMZL JP Engineering

We are looking to hire an experienced, innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Senior Field and Design Engineer to lead and scale expansion of our Last Mile Delivery network. As a senior member of the Logistics Engineering team in Japan, you will be responsible for defining the engineering strategy for delivery station launches and physical modifications across the existing network, setting standards and driving continuous improvement across the portfolio.

You will own the end-to-end design strategy, planning framework, and execution governance for new launch sites and existing site modifications — coordinating cross-functional teams of internal and external stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers. You will establish best practices, develop scalable design standards, and lead the design, optimization, and construction project management of delivery station layouts and Material Handling Equipment across our existing and future logistics network. You will influence long-range planning and represent engineering in capital investment decisions.

Key Job Responsibilities

Strategic ownership of the new delivery station launch pipeline — defining design standards, project governance frameworks, and budget methodology to ensure predictable, on-time delivery at scale.
Portfolio-level management of existing delivery station infrastructure modification/upgrade programs to improve safety, productivity, and capacity — prioritizing investments based on network-wide impact.
Develop and mentor a team of engineers, raising the bar on engineering quality and delivery across the organization.
Influence cross-functional roadmaps (Operations, Finance, Real Estate, Safety) to align engineering deliverables with broader business objectives.
Detailed Responsibilities

Develop and standardize layout design methodologies and feasibility study frameworks for reuse across the network.
Establish project timeline and budget estimation processes; own accuracy and continuous calibration of estimates.
Lead construction project management (cost/schedule/quality) across multiple concurrent projects, implementing governance and escalation mechanisms.
Drive strategic coordination with external vendors, general contractors, and internal stakeholders (Operations, Finance, Safety, Real Estate).
Identify systemic issues and develop scalable solutions; define engineering best practices and contribute to the team's technical knowledge base.
Represent engineering in leadership reviews, annual capital planning cycles, and long-range network planning.

ネットワーク全体で再利用可能なレイアウト設計手法およびフィージビリティスタディのフレームワークを開発・標準化。

Basic Qualifications

- 7+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Business level proficiency in both Japanese and English

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement principles & techniques
- Experience in complex work environments, including (but not limited to robotics, automation, diagnostic and test equipment)
