Enterprise Foundational AI (EFAI), a team within Enterprise Engineering, accelerates Amazon's AI-native transformation by building, integrating, and scaling foundational AI products and experiences that power Amazonian productivity globally. We're seeking a creative, industrious, customer-obsessed Program Manager who is interested in joining a team with a high-impact mission.
As a Program Manager in our Enterprise Foundational AI organization, you will lead the strategy and execution of complex, cross-functional programs that transform how Amazonians work. You will drive program delivery across foundational AI primitives and core AI products, define program vision and objectives, and ensure that initiatives spanning multiple organizations and geographies deliver measurable business impact at scale.
Key job responsibilities
As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of complex cross-functional programs with considerable impact across Amazon's AI-native transformation.
This includes defining your program (mission, vision, tenets), setting objectives, analyzing data, and driving improvements that are quantified with metrics. You will manage the roadmap for the organization, which may include contributing to OP1/OP2 narratives and ownership of one or more organizational goals. You'll need to understand the significant business problems in the AI and enterprise productivity space, automation limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and the reasons behind leadership decisions.
You will drive mindful discussions that lead to crisp decisions, ensuring stakeholder needs are aligned across partner organizations. You will provide long-term perspective and context for business and technology choices, partner with customers and engineering teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order, and make smart trade-offs (e.g., time vs. effort vs. deliverables). You will oversee the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks, and help teams reduce exposure to classic failure modes such as requirements not sufficiently understood, ineffective cross-team collaboration, or insufficient stakeholder review. You will influence resource allocation, enlist senior individual contributors and leaders to ensure solutions scale, and demonstrate good judgment in how and when to escalate.
A day in the life
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include regularly reviewing metrics and proactively seeking out new and improved data mechanisms for visibility into program health and AI-driven productivity outcomes. You will create plans with clear, measurable success criteria, clearly communicate progress and outcomes to directors and VPs, and write effective narratives (e.g., Amazon 6-pagers, PR/FAQs, reporting). You'll work with teams to improve concurrent project delivery, streamline or eliminate excess process, and influence teams to decouple from dependencies and eliminate problems that stifle innovation or cause user dissatisfaction. Additionally, you'll build consensus when confronted with discordant views, actively recruit and develop others through mentoring, and peer feedback.
