Job Description Here is what you will be doing: The Senior Design Manager leads the technical execution of multidisciplinary engineering projects. It's essential to maintain a strong focus on water infrastructure. But the role also supports various other sectors to ensure comprehensive project delivery. Key responsibilities include the following tasks.
- Deliver EC Africa projects while managing status updates along with budgets and associated risks.
- Apply AECOM project management best practices alongside PDS structures as well as EC GEP frameworks.
- Leverage a solid technical background in water infrastructure alongside other engineering disciplines to guide critical discussions.
- Undertake full responsibility for design management tasks on all assigned projects.
- Analyze the commercial health of various projects to proactively advise delivery teams of potential concerns.
- Prepare project reporting to contribute key insights for monthly status reports.
- Review output from project cost systems to prepare schedule-based presentations.
- Deliver effective communication to clients as well as team members to clarify expectations.
- Prepare accurate cost proposals for upcoming multidisciplinary projects.
- Compile project reports alongside KPIs to ensure quality procedures are followed across multi-centric EC Africa projects.
- Coordinate closely with the Lead Office Project Manager alongside assigned design teams.
- Ensure all assigned design teams coordinate effectively with each other.
- Take responsibility for ensuring clients approve any scope changes before proceeding with additional work.
- Drive quality reviews to ensure appropriate Lead Verifiers are assigned to every project.
- Collaborate with clients to confirm the chosen design approach satisfies their exact scope of services.
- Support other Africa EC Lead project managers in their daily duties.
Qualifications Here is what we are looking for:
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience in water infrastructure design.
- Demonstrate a proven background in water infrastructure design.
- Possess broader multidisciplinary exposure to support diverse project needs.
- Bachelor (BEng or BTech) or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Maintain active registration as a PrEng or PrTech Eng with ECSA or a similar accredited international body.
- Registration as a PrCPM with SACPCMP or certification as a PMP, PgMP, PfMP, PMI-SP or PMI-ACP through PMI.
