Job Description AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist with experience in the management, assessment, and compliance of environmental obligations applicable to projects in the oil, gas, and industrial sectors in Mexico. The responsibilities of this position include, among others:
- Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies develop technical solutions to complex problems.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.
- Conducts research and does investigation work as required.
- Plans and organize project studies.
- Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.
- Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.
- May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.
- Ensures compliance with Mexican environmental legislation and regulations.
- Analyzes and evaluates environmental risks.
- Identifies environmental aspects and impacts.
- Manages environmental permits, authorizations, and obligations.
- Monitors environmental conditions and commitments.
- Tracks environmental audit, inspection, and compliance programs.
- Prepares technical reports and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinates environmental projects and works with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications Minimum requirements:
- Environmental Engineer, Biologist, or related professional with 6+ years of experience (or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education).
Preferred requirements:
- Over 8 years of experience in large-scale environmental projects for the industrial and hydrocarbon (oil and gas) sectors.
- Management of regulatory requirements and procedures with ASEA.
- Implementation of SASISOPA and management systems for industrial safety, operational safety, and environmental protection.
- Knowledge of the regulatory framework and obligations regarding CNH.
- Knowledge of the Mexican regulatory framework and applicable requirements from SEMARNAT, ASEA, and SENER.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
