Software Development Engineer (Frontend)
AdobeThe Opportunity
Are you interested in working with a team of exceptional and committed engineers who can help you realise your potential to become a phenomenal engineer?
Our team is looking for a Mid-Level Frontend Engineer to join the group developing Adobe's Administration Platform — a collaborative and multi-skilled engineering team located in Edinburgh, crafting scalable, high-impact systems that serve millions globally.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, values clear communication, and wants to grow in an environment that invests in its people. Our engineers are at the forefront of integrating AI into the software development process — from intelligent code assistance to testing and automation. You'll have the opportunity to help shape how we build software for the future — and you'll do it alongside people who care deeply about software, inclusion, and each other.
What you will do
- Compose, build and maintain reliable, scalable UI components and front-end applications
- Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend engineers to deliver end-to-end features
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help build technical direction
- Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code
- Help identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues
- Build tooling and automation to reduce operational burdens
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to an encouraging team culture
What you need to succeed
We don't expect you to tick every box — if you're passionate about this role and meet most of the criteria, we encourage you to apply!
- 2–6 years of professional frontend engineering experience
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience building and maintaining modern web applications using technologies such as Web Components, React, or Angular
- Familiarity with web standards, front-end performance and web browser internals (reflow, repaint, shadow DOM, CSS/SCSS, etc.)
- Understanding of front-end architecture patterns (MVC/Flux/Redux) and component-driven design
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and methodologies, including tools such as Argo CD
- Experience working with monitoring platforms like New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana
- A collaborative approach and clear written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity, a growth mindset, and a dedication to continuous learning
